As we age, we become at an increased risk of suffering from a fall. Luckily, most falls that occur result in only minor damage, such as scrapes and bruises. However, on occasion we suffer a catastrophic fall, which results in life threatening complications and injuries. To help mitigate this risk, we offer a comprehensive fall program to address the underlying issues that make falls more likely.
Since falls as the number one reason that patients end up in nursing homes, we work with identify potential hazards in the home for clients. These hazards can come from anywhere and we use a personalized assessment to help you understand the risks in your home and how you can adequately manage and reduce the risk as much as possible.
We also work with clients to provide physical training to help reduce the risk of falls. This program incorporates a number of strength training and physical assessments on:
- Overall muscle strength
- Gait analysis
Since falls occur in the home 85% of the time, it is essential that an individual have the necessary tools and skills to adequately minimize the risk. Preventing falls is one of the key elements to living a long and healthy life.
